Liz Miles
1968 Camaro and 1966 Mustang
http://www.milesspeed.com
I’m Liz Miles, the former Technical Editor of Popular Hot Rodding magazine and currently a freelance writer, photographer, racer, and car builder. I’ve had my hands on many projects over the years, and since most of them are over 40-years old, they usually have bad wiring. Rather than trying to repair the damage, I always opt to replace the whole harness with one of American Autowire’s kits. My Camaro and Mustang both have their Classic Update Series kits that replace and upgrade the entire original system. They’ve added circuits to keep up with today’s trends of power accessories like fuel pumps, power windows, etc… One of my favorite things about these kits is the quality of the wire. It’s very flexible, has a really nice feel to it, and each wire is labeled with its destination which makes installation much easier. I always refer my friends to American Autowire’s catalog.
Ty Ingle's "Freedom Bird"
1971 Pontiac Firebird
Sgt Ty Ingle is the owner of the 1971 Pontiac Firebird pro-touring car known as the CS-71 “Freedom Bird” which was debuted at the 2009 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada (photos below). Sgt. Ingle has owned this car since his high school days. What started out as a “scuff and shoot” repaint ended up turning into one of the most unique, and “one-off” builds in recent memory. The Freedom Bird is wired from front to back with American Autowire products, including our brand new 1970-1973 Pontiac Firebird Classic Update Series wiring kit.

I've owned it [1966 Nova] for about 3 years and have replaced nearly everything. It has a 327 with a turbo 350 automatic transmission and limited slip rearend with 3.73 gears. I have tried to keep the appearance as original as possible while making it perform like a newer car. It has power disk brakes, rack and pinion steering and tubular control arms. It also has an electronic ignition and electric fan.
The wiring harness was original - brittle wires that has been spliced, cut, and everything else that can be done to wires over 44 years. I was afraid it would burn as it was, so it was time for a new harness. I've seen your harness on my favorite Speed Channel car shows and have read about it on the Nova forum. I looked at others, but they just didn't compare. I have never done wiring before, so clear instructions were a must. I also wanted new connectors as I didn't think the original would survive the removal. I watched your R&D video on You Tube and felt comfortable doing it myself. It took me about 8 hours total and everything worked the first time. Attached are some photos, but they are not great quality. Thanks again!!!

I had sold and installed many of the update kits. The best quality and fit in the industry. The customers that buy the kits and install them themselves call back and tell me how easy it has and they could not believe they waited that long to rewire their cars. I also get calls and emails for other custmers wanting to know if I can help them install or help them fix the other kits on the market or sell them other parts that the competitors kits do not include. That tells me that I am selling and installing the best kits on the market.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

You spoiled me! I bought harness for my 68 Firebird and it was very easy to install. It was complete had very clear instructions. Now I have to buy parts from you to fix the [other brand] harness I bought for my 70 Charger...I wish you sold harnesses for Mopars! When I get ready wire my 64 Vette I'm coming back to you.

Thank you for all the help from the tech department . I first used American Autowire Highway 22 on my 37 ford, what a great feeling to turn on the ignition switch and every thing worked. I am now working on a 1949 Jeepster which has all Ford running gear, I am using hwy 15 . With such great success, I will continue to use American Autowire. Thanks again

Everyone who knows me, knows that I am a huge supporter of American Autowire kits and products. We specialize in automotive wiring of street rods, customs, and classics. We have used many other kits on the market in the past, but we have been wiring with American Autowire for the past six years. If a customer wants us to use another kit, we can usually convince them to wire with your kits once I explain the difference. Your organization is great and you continue to provide the products to keep our vehicles safe and on the road. Keep up the good work with your products and your informative website.

...a few photos of our latest jobs, the ’50 Merc is all fiberglass with a 355ci Chevy. The ’64 corvette has a 502ci big block and a c-5 tubular frame... My 37’ roadster is a wild rod, with lift off top, and 350ci small block.
The Merc and Vette have Highway 22 panels and the ’37 has a Highway 15.
You guys have the best stuff, that’s all we use now!

I just installed one of your re-production spark plug wire sets for a 1970 Camaro Z28, (CA0139). After following your instructions and the installation, I just sat back and was so impressed at how easy and how accurate it was. Your product is one of the few items I purchased for this car that actually was a pleasure to install. Your instructions were perfect. Your product is perfect, everything was perfect! And best of all, it’s made in the U.S.A

Let me start by saying that the Muscle Car kit I purchased for my 69 Camaro has been great. I will definitely recommend American Autowire to my friends. I've finished the installation with few hiccups....Again, great product, excellent documentation and labeling.

I have your harnesses in all my cars, they are the best. I use the Highway 15.

The manufacture of good products starts at the top, and so should the appreciation of those products. I would like to thank you and the entire American Autowire team for an exceptional product line! You could stop reading now and skip to my signature and my point would be made, but please read on.
...
My first experience with AAW products was in early 2003. I was asked to install the wiring in a '57 Chevy 210 Sport Coupe that was undergoing a frame off resto\mod for a customer’s wife as an anniversary gift. This was my first complete rewire of a stripped vehicle! The customer had already purchased the AAW Classic Update kit for the car. After about 10 minutes looking at the separate bags, scanning the documentation, and checking the contents, I could see the quality and ease of installation. I joked with the shop owner that I could almost throw that kit at the car and it would install itself. Having previously dealt with different wiring products from your competitors I was even more impressed with the AAW line. After the installation in that 57 Chevy, I was convinced of AAW quality. There is none better....When approached by a customer about a rewire or upgrades, I always specify AAW products.
...Please keep producing AAW products the way AAW produces them right now. I know the economy is tight but I would be willing to pay a bit more instead of seeing the quality decline. My customers tend to agree. By endorsing AAW products and displaying the end result, my reputation is such that my customers usually purchase AAW products well beforehand in their projects on my recommendation, precluding any price markup on my part. I'm ok with that, because the quality of my work is supported by the quality of the AAW products that they purchase. I really appreciate that!
In short, Thank You for an excellent product!
