Today, a man did something unspeakably ugly to a perfectly good Corvette dash harness.

We love all of our harnesses equally, but every once in a while we’re forced to sacrifice one in the name of science. It’s not pretty, but it needs to be done so others can live.

The first cut is always the most difficult.

Any time we release a new Classic Update kit, we eventually remove a dash harness from production for use as our Sales and Tech support reference. With something as involved as wiring, it is extremely helpful for us have a hands-on point of reference.

This is especially true if we’re talking things through with a customer over the phone. If nothing else, it keeps the warehouse staff from chasing us around the building when we remove a product from the shelf for closer inspection.

We include extra long wire leads on specific sections of the Classic Updates, so some pruning is required in order to store them neatly in the archives.

It’s the wiring circle of life, but it doesn’t make it any easier to watch.
