The elusive ’68 Chevy Truck side marker “light”

This week’s entry is pretty specific, but it’s something that can be very confusing for owners of a particular vehicle. That vehicle is a 1968 Chevrolet Truck.

We frequently receive phone calls from customers who are either searching for side marker light connections in their ‘68 front light harness, or wondering where to find the listing in our Factory Fit catalog (see below) for the side marker option. However, there is a very specific reason you don’t see the option listed in our book.

….it never existed…

Chevy trucks manufactured in 1968 have reflectors that look very much like side markers, but do not have lighting behind them. Some truck owners modify the reflectors or add lighting over the years, which is what causes the question to come up somewhat regularly when it’s time to freshen up old wiring.

Our OEM replacement Factory Fit wiring is made to match the original (bulbless) specification, but the installation procedure for our Classic Update kit for the ‘67-’68 Chevy Trucks allows users to choose the option they prefer.
